About High Performance Buildings

I have been serving the Sedona-Verde Valley area as an Arizona licensed residential and small commercial general contractor since 1986 and a licensed general for large commercial since 2005. I have managed approximately 60 new construction projects and completed many remodeling and home improvement projects. My portfolio of custom homes ranges from simple starter homes to highly complex multi-million dollar luxury homes. Commercial construction projects range from small buildings and tenant improvement projects to a 70,000 SF, ten million dollar retail complex. Our success with construction projects comes from a combination of continuing education; being well-seasoned in the best construction methods and practices; pre-qualifying and hiring the best sub-contractors for the project; high attention to quality control; and constant communication with our clients, the architects, engineers, and sub-contractors.

With the collapse of the real estate market several years ago and the resulting negative impact on the construction industry; I used the opportunity to dive deeply into the world of building science. I have received multiple building science certifications that allow me to analyze buildings and offer integrated solutions to solve problems with building energy efficiency, comfort, and indoor air quality.  High performance upgrades on thirty plus homes were completed working within the guidelines as a participating contractor within the Home Performance with Energy Star program, Arizona Public Service Home Performance with Energy Star Program and Unisource Bright Solutions Program.

With my family having a long history in the Sedona area, one particular project that became available to me was a special opportunity to work on a beautiful historical property that my grandfather had also worked on.  The City of Sedona wanted to convert the Jordan house and orchard property located in uptown Sedona to what is now the Jordan Historical Park. http://www.sedonaaz.gov/sedonacms/index.aspx?page=375

My company was hired as the general contractor and we teamed with Sedona architect John Kamas, the Sedona Historical Society, and the City of Sedona to preserve the site and construct the necessary improvements to evolve the once working farm into a scenic city park. When my grandfather was a young man he assisted the Jordan family with special projects for their commercial orchard. For me to be able to make building improvements to the same property to allow the general public to enjoy this special place is a source of personal pride.
